Secure Transport / Patients detained under the Mental Health Act
We offer secure transport and fully trained staff to transfer service users within the NHS, Private Hospitals, Police and the Criminal Justice System. We will liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure all service users needs are met whilst being securely transferred.
The service is seperated into two categories:
1. Secure Soft Cell transport
2. Secure Cell vehicle transport.
The soft cell transport is a secure vehicle with the option of accommodating up to 2 escorts to travel with the service user.
The Cell vehicle is a Category B Home office approved cell for transporting high risk service users.
All vehicles are covert vehicles, which do not have markings. However all vehicles have blue lights fitted for emergency transfers.
All Secure Transport staff hold a current enhanced CRB.
All Secure Transport staff follow mandatory training as listed below:
- HSE Approved Emergency First Aid at Work
- Infection Control
- Patient Handling
- AED training
- Oxygen therapy training
- Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults & Children
- MiDAS (Driver training)
- Customer service Training
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Fire Safety Training
All Mental Health staff are additionally trained to the following levels:
- BTEC Level 2 Physical intervention & Disengagement (Vulnerable Persons)
- BTEC Level 2 Effective use of restraint equipment (Handcuffs & Leg restraints)
